Mid-Century Modern
Ruby Mountain Builders had been seeking land for a mid-Century Modern spec home, when custom plans in that style were brought to us by prospective clients. The Alberta-based designer and the BC-bound couple had done some solid work together, but the site encouraged a few changes. An impressive boulder forced us to flip the basement 180 degrees, while the dynamite north view motivated a main floor flip. With a late-season start, rampant material inflation, and EPIC December and January snowfall, the challenge was set -- and everyone rose to the occasion. The clients' strong aesthetic, and openness to the builder's eye regarding exterior finishes, produced what might be our most attractive build to date.
